iTRI is an incredible long distance virtual triathlon starting on 1st March 2021. By completing it in bite-sized chunks across the whole of March, you can conquer it whenever and wherever suits you! You have 31 days to put your fitness to the test and complete 2.4 miles of swimming/ walking/ stair climbing, 112 miles of cycling and 26.2 miles of running, in any order you like.
iTRI takes place throughout the whole month of March. The earlier you sign up, the more time you have to complete the miles – but you can sign up anytime.
Go to the sign up page, complete the short registration form and then set up your Just Giving page – it’s that easy. Once your page has been set up you can get going on with your training and fundraising straight away.
You can also call our Supporter Relations team on 0800 008 7005 or send us an email with any questions you have before signing up. It is that simple!
Yes! We understand that due to ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions it will be difficult for many to access swimming facilities, therefore for the first time we are giving you the option to switch up the swimming element and choose something different if you wish. We have a selection of options in the sign up form for inspiration, you can; stair climb; walk; hike; row or skate your way through the 2.4 miles instead. You can also select ‘Other’ and choose a different activity.
Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a thank you letter and certificate, and if you raise £100 for Barnardo’s, you will also receive a medal!
Absolutely! If you would like a technical t-shirt or running vest please email email@example.com with the subject line ‘iTRI t-shirt request’. Please include your preferred size of t-shirt or vest and postage address. The options are XS, S, M, L, XL OR XXL. Please note the t-shirts in particular are a small fit and so we suggest going for a size up.
No, iTRI is absolutely free to enter. We encourage anyone taking part to raise as much as they can for Barnardo’s. Every £1 raised will help us change a child’s life.
No, you don’t have a minimum target to raise for this event. However, we would encourage you to set your fundraising target at £100, and see if you can beat it! We’d love you to raise as much as you can, so we’ve provided plenty of free fundraising materials for you to download on the website!
A JustGiving page will be created automatically during the sign up process. However if you were unable to set up a page at the time we have instructions below of how to create a page.
Please note – you need a Just Giving page to log into your profile page, as you will use your Just Giving login details.
Setting up a page is quick and easy to set up and will allow you to track your progress as well as have your donations come directly to Barnardo’s. Please ensure you create your Just Giving page using the same email address you used to sign up to iTRI, to allow your profiles to synchronize.

If the thought of covering all of those miles alone scares you, then why not sign up as a team and split the miles between a group of you. It’s the perfect team building activity, and a great way to encourage some healthy competition!
How to sign up a team:
Step 1: Pick your team – we recommend 3-5 people in a team, but you can decide!
Step 2: Nominate a team leader, and get them to sign up on the website – they will only be able to enter their own details here, not everyone’s.
Step 3: Drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know that you have signed up, and who will be in your iTRI Team, so that we can keep a record of how you are all doing! You can also login to your profile and add your team members names in the description!
Step 4: Work out who will take on what miles – you may want to split the miles equally between the team, or play to people’s strengths, and give each member a different activity to complete.
Step 5: Complete your allocated miles throughout March, and raise money to support Barnardo’s work! You can manually log your miles completed by logging into your profile – we advise that the team leader does this for everyone at the end of each week!
Yes absolutely, you can, but you will need a parent or guardian to complete the sign up for you. iTRI is the perfect activity to take part in as a family – as we spend more time at home with our household, you can complete the challenge as a family and rack up the miles together.
Great news that you are signed up – you should have received an email from us to confirm this. To log into your profile and begin personalising your page, visit the iTRI website homepage and click on “Login” on the top right corner. You will need to use your Just Giving details to log in.
If you don’t have a Just Giving page set up for iTri, you would be able to log in. Please see ‘How to set up a Just Giving page’ question for more information.
Download Strava to automatically log your mileage or you can manually submit your progress on your own profile. You can even link your Strava account to your fundraising page on Just Giving, meaning your friends and family can see how you are getting on throughout March! Note – any miles which are recorded using Strava may take up to 12 hours to appear on your profile.
To link your account to your profile simply locate your profile page on our website and scroll to the bottom. From there you will see the Strava button. Follow the on-screen instructions and your data will be automatically linked to your profile during the campaign.
Strava user guide:
• Once you have completed your activity on Strava, you must log into your profile page to help the information synchronise.
• Please make sure your Strava account is public and not private. If it is private, it won’t display on your profile page totalizer.
• Note that the profile page will record your mileage in miles not KM, however the system should convert this.
• Remember that Strava will only pull through the running and cycling activities, and not your third element. This is because it varies with each supporter and we’re unable to sync it.
If you experience difficulties please get in touch with our Supporter Relations team.
To update your story you will need to amend this via your JustGiving Fundraising page. Please log in via JustGiving.com.
Yes, iTRI is completely flexible to fit within your lifestyle. There’s no set schedule – you can decide on the order in which you want to complete the targets and can complete the distances for each at any time within the month of March. We have however put together a draft schedule, which you might find useful to follow throughout March – click here to take a look!
A standard triathlon consists of a swim, run and cycle elements however, we understand that due to ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions it will be difficult for many to access swimming facilities. Due to this we are giving you the flexibility to switch up the swimming element and choose something different if you wish. We have a selection of options in the sign up form for inspiration, you can; stair climb; walk; hike; row or skate your way through the 2.4 miles instead. You can also select ‘Other’ and choose a different activity. As long as you can complete 2.4 miles (or more) of the activity then you can choose anything you like.
Due to the ever-changing restrictions you have until 28th February to change your third element if you wish. After that time you will need to email us and we will change it for you. You can access your profile by visiting the iTRI homepage, and selecting “Login” on the top right corner.
No, you decide what distance you want to do and when. The challenge is to swim/other activity 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run 26.2 miles in total by the end of March, so as long as you have completed it all by the 31st March, it is completely up to you how you do it!
This is because your profile page and Just Giving page haven’t yet been synchronised. Please email our Supporter Relations Team (email@example.com) including a link to your new Just Giving page if possible and we will sort this for you.
Alternatively you can join the iTri Facebook Community group, and raise your query there. A member of the team will get back to you as soon as we can. Just search for ‘Barnardo’s iTri – March 2021’ on Facebook.
